FUTURE SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS at ST. LAURENTIUS

5th grade.jpg5th gr more.jpg
The 5th graders at St. Laurentius School conducted an experiment called the "EggDrop". The students worked in groups creating a model that would allow the raw egg to survive being dropped from a 3rd story window. The students were asked to be creative and use things from their home to make their model. Some things the students used were peanut butter, tissue paper, paper bags, balloons, homemade parachutes, coffee containers and popcorn. The 5th graders learned like good scientists we need to test our model before a final test to make sure the eggs would not break. The students proved to be good scientists- not one egg broke! The students enjoyed this experience, and of course the homework pass the received for no broken eggs. (Spirit)

Poodle Posse Visits St. Laurentius School

Poodle Posse.jpeg
Bucks County children's author Chrysa Smith visited St. Laurentius School on Wednesday, January 23, where she autographed her books, The Poodle Posse series, for the students. For grades K-5 Ms. Smith introduced her characters and related how her stories developed. For grades 6-8, Ms. Smith held a writer's workshop on using the elements of a story and how to jazz up writing. Students and staff enjoyed her presentations and invited her back to help develop writing skills. (Spirit)
